Loitering in the Lower South
With more routes to GPS log and some family to visit, the bike was packed and I was off down south. The first stop was Bannockburn Bike Week where a riding buddy had booked a house in Cromwell for four of us for a week. The Bannockburn Bike Week routes were a little too tame for our tastes so we rode our own routes throughout the week, the social side of the event was however a nice way to catch up with riders at the end of the day and meet some new faces.

The fist day of Bannockburn

Col, Kenny, Carl and myself at Obelisk

Heading down Waikaia Bush Road to Piano Flat. This was an absolute magic run

Col stylin it up on Nevis Road

Day two saw us head into Skippers and a bit of a side route near the end

Cooneyr joined us for a looksee up a side track

Goofin around, Col left his hat over the other side of the car park so I had a crack at riding past and picking it up cowboy style

Kenny and one of his many alternative parking options

A rear wheel bearing decided to give up so a fresh set was knocked in

Day three was more exploring up the tops which was an interesting day with the weather forecast

MXNUT joined us on this day

Lots of sideways snow in gusts over 80kmph made for some interesting riding

Day four was a very casual day on the Bannockburn tour around the town. It was made a little more dramatic with Shrek's bike acrobatics!

After four great days of riding, beers and bad jokes; day five I headed further south and off and to Kingston to catch up with a cousin and a couple of days of fly fishing. The southerly that past through the previous night made for a very white trip
